An Epic Jetski Adventure Awaits
Hello, fellow adventure-seekers! We are thrilled beyond words to share with you our upcoming ultimate water adventure—a jetski journey from Pensacola to Key West.
This isn’t just a trip for us—it’s an extraordinary blend of heart-pounding excitement, captivating natural beauty, and a deep dive into Florida’s vibrant coastal culture.

Prepping for the Journey: Safety, Comfort, and Timing Take Center Stage
As we gear up for this adventure, safety is our topmost priority. We’ve made sure to invest in sturdy lifejackets—they are undoubtedly the most crucial pieces of safety equipment. Two features that I liked about these were the loop at the back neck to attach your goggles to the vest and the D-ring for the key lanyard at the bottom left.
To attract attention in case of emergencies, we’ve got whistles ready, and for communication, if things get really tough, we are equipped with marine VHF radios.
Comfort is equally important, so we’ve packed sunscreen to protect our skin from the harsh sun rays, polarized sunglasses for better visibility on the water, and waterproof bags for our belongings. And let’s not forget about clothing—we’ve opted for quick-drying, comfortable attire that would allow us to move freely.
We’ve decided to embark on this journey in January, a choice that definitely presents its unique set of challenges. Unlike the summer months with their warm weather and calm seas, January often brings cooler temperatures and potentially rougher waters—a dynamic twist to our adventure.
We’re well aware that Mother Nature can be especially unpredictable during the winter months, so we’re committed to keeping a close eye on local weather forecasts and preparing accordingly for our journey.
Starting Point: Pensacola, The Launchpad of Our Adventure
Our adventure begins in Pensacola, a city known for its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and rich history. We’ll be launching our journey from one of the city’s well-equipped marinas, surrounded by fellow water enthusiasts who share our love for the sea.
As we power up our jetskis and leave the shore behind, we anticipate the thrill of seeing Pensacola’s skyline fade into the distance—an unforgettable sight that will mark the beginning of our epic journey.
The Route: A Visual Feast Along Florida’s Coastline
The 800+ mile route from Pensacola to Key West promises to be a visual feast that will captivate at every turn.
We look forward to passing picturesque coastal towns, each with its unique charm and character, pristine beaches that seem to stretch on forever, and hopefully spotting some dolphins and manatees!
These curious, gentle creatures have always fascinated me, and seeing them in their natural habitat will be a memorable experience.
Wild Manatee
We understand that this adventure is not only about admiring breathtaking sights but also about embracing thrilling challenges. From busy shipping lanes to rough waves and unpredictable weather, every obstacle is an integral part of our journey.
We know these obstacles will test our skills and resolve, but we believe that overcoming these challenges together will make our adventure all the more rewarding.
Bumps & Bruises Along the Way
We anticipate a few bumps and bruises along the way, with 28 planned stops for refueling over the 800+ mile stretch. Some of the stops are for fun, some out of necessity, some for exploring, and some for pure comfort; let’s face it…. not all of us have the bladder of a camel.
Destination: Key West, Our Tropical Paradise
Our journey ends in Key West, a captivating island town with crystal-clear waters and an infectious, laid-back vibe.
After our thrilling jetski ride, we plan to explore this tropical paradise together—its historic landmarks, lively nightlife, and local cuisine are all on our to-do list.
I’m looking forward to strolling hand-in-hand along its palm-fringed beaches, soaking up the vibrant spirit of the town, and enjoying countless hours of people-watching.
Personal Experiences: Anticipating Thrills, Triumphs, and Treasured Memories
We can already imagine the exhilaration of skimming across the waves at high speed, the tranquility of watching a spectacular ocean sunset together, and the sense of shared achievement from conquering challenging stretches.
This trip is more than just a journey for us—it’s an adventure filled with joy, excitement, personal triumphs, and stories that we’ll be telling for years to come.
Additional Resources: Planning for Success
We’re firm believers in the thrill of spontaneity. Our ultimate water adventure is less about meticulous planning and more about embracing the unexpected. We’ve plotted a few necessary stops (28, to be exact) and have a gas route in place to ensure we’re always fueled up for our journey. But beyond that, we’re flying by the seat of our pants, ready to take on whatever comes our way.
Of course, we haven’t completely thrown caution to the wind. We’ve purchased Sea Doo jet skis and had decent GPS units installed into them to guarantee reliable equipment and have kept up-to-date weather forecasts on hand to stay ahead of any potential storms.
These resources, combined with our adventurous spirit, form the backbone of our journey. It’s all about striking a balance between careful preparation and the exhilarating unpredictability of the open seas.
We’ve also gathered some tips and tricks from experienced jetskiers and local insights to enhance our journey. So, we’re gearing up, planning well, and getting ready for the adventure of a lifetime.

Looking forward to following you and your journey. I don’t have a jet ski, but very intrigued in taking some sort of a similar trip in my Boston Whaler Montauk 210. I’d like to see how you arrange lodging along the way, and what options you have.
